The Bahamas are an amazing place to visit,
and there are certain things that you absolutely have to try before you
go home. One of them is a succulent dish called stuffed Conch. This
dish is enough to make you want to move there permanently.
Another is scuba diving. Seeing the amazing
coral and sea life up close and in person is indescribable. Finally,
you have to do some Bahamas fishing before you leave for home. This is
a great place to fish whether you're a beginner or an expert, and here
is some important information you will need before you catch the big
one!
Bahamas Fishing Regulations
- If you plan on using a spear, fish trap, or any net other than a
landing net, you will need to get a permit. For sport fishing and
tournaments, you must use the traditional fishing pole with a hook, and
the pole must be hand held.
No matter how many people are in your boat,
you cannot have more than six fishing poles unless you have gotten a
permit for more than that. Catching and keeping turtles is not allowed,
and you can catch a maximum of six conch, ten crawfish, and 20 to 60
pounds of other fish such as snapper, grouper, etc. Following these
regulations will help you have a great time fishing in the Bahamas.
Bahamas Fishing Charters -
This is a great way to enjoy the Bahamas fishing experience with
friends and family. You will go out with a guide to the best fishing
spots off of each island, and fish your heart out!
There are regulations, of course (see above)
and your guide should be able to tell you more about those. Simply do
some research on fishing charters from your particular island. There
are a ton of them that leave from each island, and choosing the one you
want to participate in is entirely up to your own tastes and style.
